Thottikallu Falls - The Hidden Waterfall near to Bengaluru

Thottikallu Falls, located just 35kms away from Bengaluru off the Kanakapura road and more popularly known as TK falls. Its is also known as 'SwarnaMukhi' water falls. SwarnaMukhi translates as 'Golden-Faced'. A must-visit place for the wanderlust souls and nature enthusiasts. Secluded waterfall with powerful cascades during monsoon (September - January). The falls originates from a pond on the top and there is a small check dam which overflows on to the stone to become Thottikallu Falls.

The route at Kagalpura (Kaggalipura) off the Bangalore - Kanakapura road will lead to a place called Byalemaradadoddi, from where a road leads to the falls. The place also has a small shrine,  Muneshwara temple which is revered by the locals. The majestic banyan tree and the lush green surroundings bring out the serenity of this temple.

Continuing straight on the banks of the river will lead to the waterfall. Be careful while walking along the banks of the river, as it might be slippery and fatal if any mistake happens. The lush green and dense forest will make you go crazy with the nature. Every sprawling tree passed under reminded me of a watchful guardian, a silent sentinel of the groves. Decided to venture deeper into the tangled heart of this primeval forest hoping that it would reveal its dark secrets. The further i went, the more mystical and spellbinding it became. Arrived at a wide glade, where the trees fell away, revealing the bespeckled sky and the beautiful Thottikallu Waterfall.

Sat down against a rock and watching the water fade away from the rocks. The solitary songbird was soon joined by his beaked companions and the sound of running water, creating a symphony of song. The heart haunting melody was an elixir for the soul. The sap sweet fragrance of the forest washed over and was seduced by its comforting goodness. The forest glade looked freeze frame perfect in the enhanced light of the full dawn. Enjoying the peace and sounds of nature, soon plan your ride to Thottikallu Falls.
